Geetika suicide: Kanda charged with rape, unnatural sex

New Delhi: A chargesheet has been filed against former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda and his aide Aruna Chadha in the Geetika Sharma suicide case. The court says prima facie charges of rape, unnatural sex, abetment of suicide, conspiracy, forgery under the IPC and IT act have been made out against Kanda. Kanda and Chadha have been chargesheeted under section 306 (abetment to suicide), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 506 (criminal intimidation), 201 (destruction of evidence), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery with intention to cheat), 469 (forgery with intention to harm reputation) and 471 (using forged documents as genuine) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). They have also been booked under section 66-A of the Information and Technology Act

Kanda and his employee were named by 23-year-old airhostess Geetika in her suicide letter in 2012. Suicide notes strong evidence against Kanda: police to court

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Saturday told a court here that the suicide notes of former air hostess Geetika Sharma and her mother should be considered as concrete evidence against former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda and his aide Aruna Chaddha accused of abetting her suicide. In its arguments on framing of charges before District Judge S K Sarvaria, the prosecution said suicide notes written by Geetika are the strongest piece of evidence against the accused. Additional Public Prosecutor Rajiv Mohan also said that the suicide notes written by Geetika's mother, who committed suicide on February 15, also point towards culpability of Kanda and Chaddha. Kingfisher employees demand Mallya's prosecution; to disrupt IPL

New Delhi: Frustrated over not getting salary for last 10 months, Kingfisher Airlines employees on Wednesday asked the government to prosecute promoter Vijay Mallya and threatened to disrupt IPL matches. "If Gopal Kanda, promoter of MDLR airlines, can be prosecuted for suicide of an employee why can't the government prosecute Vijay Mallya for suicide of the family member of his employees," said Santosh Gautam, president of Kingfisher Airlines Maintenance Association. They also threatened to disrupt IPL matches of the Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB), the team owned by Mallya. Kingfisher Airlines owes a loan of over Rs 7,000 crore to the consortium of 17 banks, led by the SBI.

Geetika Sharma's mother alleged harassment by Kanda in suicide note

New Delhi: Six months after the suicide of MDLR employee Geetika Sharma, there is a fresh twist in the case. Geetika's mother Anuradha committed suicide on Friday. In a two-page suicide note, Anuradha has blamed former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda and MDLR manager Aruna Chadha - the duo are already in custody over Geetika's suicide. New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has dismissed the bail plea of Aruna Chaddha, an accused in former flight attendant Geetika Sharma's suicide, adding that it will pass a detailed order later. Chaddha worked in the now defunct MDLR Airlines where Geetika, 23, too was an employee. Former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, owner of the airlines, is the prime accused in the case. Both Chaddha and Kanda have denied any involvement in the suicide. Chaddha was arrested on August 8 and the trial court rejected her bail plea Oct 15. New Delhi: In a setback to ex-Haryana Home minister Gopal Kanda, the Delhi High Court on Monday rejected his bail plea in connection with the Geetika Sharma suicide case. Kanda is the main accused in the case. Geetika Sharma worked as an air-hostess in the Kanda-owned and now-defunct MDLR Airlines. Later on, she was made a director at a subsidiary company of MDLR, a job which she quit within months. In her suicide note, Geetika blamed Kanda and another of her senior managers, Aruna Chadha of harassing her for quitting her job at the company. Kanda was arrested in mid-August and has been in jail since.

New Delhi: Former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda's judicial custody ends on Wednesday. Kanda was arrested on August 18 for allegedly abetting the suicide of his former MDLR Airlines employee Geetika Sharma. Geetika had committed suicide on August 5. The sitting Haryana MLA was arrested on August 18 after he had surrendered before the police, 13 days after Geetika was found dead in her Ashok Vihar house in North West Delhi. New Delhi: Prime accused in the Geetika Sharma suicide case, ex-Haryana Home minister Gopal Kanda and his close aide Aruna Chadha were on Saturday charged with abetment to suicide, criminal intimidation and destruction of evidence. A court took cognizance of the chargesheet and a case was filed under Sections 306, 506, 201, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code and 34/66 of the IT Act. The chargesheet said that the immediate provocation for Geetika to take the extreme step was a phone call from Kanda during which they had a fight.
