2012: Burst of fresh ideas, talent in Bollywood

New Delhi: Who would have thought the less spoken subject of sperm donation could be a theme entertaining enough for a commercial movie? Or the woes of a middle-class Indian housewife, who can't speak fluent English? In 2012, the limelight in Bollywood turned towards fresh faces, stories and ideas. Top-notch actors paved the way for young and new talent, with or without filmy connections, while producers gave worthy platforms and good marketing to fresh directors. The year began on a positive note with 'Agneepath'. It was a mammoth task to direct the movie, a remake of the 1990 film of the same name, but debutant Karan Malhotra sailed through it well, garnering good results at the box office.

New Delhi: The Khan surname often works well at the Bollywood box office, and actor Kunal Khemu, whose next film 'Go Goa Gone' is being produced by Saif Ali Khan, hopes the association creates wonders for his movie as well. 3 Bachelors: Sharman Joshi gets legal notice

Mumbai: Producers of the film 3 Bachelors have sent a legal notice to its actor Sharman Joshi accusing him of defaming their film. Manoj Rastogi and Pramod Sharma, who produced the film in making for 10 years, alleged that Sharman was defaming the movie after he reportedly accused that they were trying to benefit from the attention around his recent release Ferrari Ki Sawaari to pull their long-pending project out of cans. "Sharman should not have made such remarks. It is very unfortunate," Rastogi told PTI. "Has Sharman not been paid? How can he level such allegations against us and the film," Rastogi said, describing Sharman as a talented actor who should understand realities of Bollywood. The

New Delhi: Boman Irani worked in Rajkumar Hirani's first film 'Munnabhai MBBS' and recently teamed with Rajesh Mapuskar for his debut vehicle 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari'. Ferrari Ki Sawaari: Sharman's hard work pays off

Mumbai: He is not a stranger to filmdom, considering his father-in-law is veteran artist Prem Chopra and his sister Mansi Joshi is an actress and is married to actor-filmmaker Rohit Roy. But Sharman Joshi says connections don't work in showbiz and everyone has to prove his or her mettle to get recognition. "You are at the mercy of people. No connections really help here (filmdom). You have to prove yourself. No one can fight the battle for you. It has been a lonely journey," Sharman Joshi told IANS in an interview. After having been part of the industry for 13 years and having worked in 19 films, Sharman says there is no particular formula to succeed in showbiz.

'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' earns Rs 14 crore in 3 days

New Delhi: 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' is Sharman Joshi's first solo hero film and has no female lead, but it has managed to pull in viewers and ended grossing about Rs 14 crore in the first three days of its release. Made at a budget of Rs 10 crore, including publicity and marketing, the film about father-son relationship has already recovered its cost. "The film is doing extremely well in all our cinemas. Friday we had around 60 percent occupancy while Saturday-Sunday had over 80 percent occupancy," says, Anant Verma, director and business head of DT Cinemas. Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 'Ferrari Ki Sawari' is Rajesh Mapuskar's first directorial venture and hit the screens Friday.

Mumbai: Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani starrer 'Ferrari Ki Sawari' hits the theatres Friday and Aamir Khan hopes that the film does so well at the box office that it beats the success of their movie '3 Idiots'. New Delhi: While Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' is creating a lot of buzz with people praising the film for its simplicity, reportedly there is one section which doesn't seem to be too happy - the car company. A sequence in the film shows the car being towed by a bullock cart - something which seems to have irked the company bosses. It is being said that apparently Ferrari's top brass wants to see the film. However, the producers are completely silent on the matter.
